Celebrate your skin
You can celebrate anything you want; birthdays, anniversaries, special dates, graduations, new jobs and so much more, but why not celebrate yourself? Celebrations don’t just have to be for events or achieving milestones, you deserve to celebrate yourself every day, have you seen yourself? I mean, celebration-worthy if you ask me.
The idea of a celebration has come to be about moments in life and achieving goals, but everyone must celebrate themselves too, specifically their skin. Your skin is your shell, your armour, your uniform. Your skin has seen you through everything, from acne breakouts and new stretch marks to your weight loss/gain journey and make-up routine. Your skin is the most powerful weapon you possess and just like all the other special, important and beautiful moments in your life, it deserves to be celebrated.
The beauty of your skin is that it’s like no one else- you are one in 7,874,965,825. The beauty of your skin is that it’s your own and it’s unique, it makes you stand out and it makes you different in the best way possible. Skin types vary on so many different levels, from the colour of your skin to the texture, you are special.
Skin can be celebrated in so many ways; getting through bad breakouts, what you used to see as a flaw/imperfection becoming your favourite part of you, finally developing a skincare routine, etc.
Times have come and gone where you probably didn’t like your skin, there could have been a time in your life where you didn’t even want to walk past a mirror because you couldn’t bear to see your reflection. When you got through that, you probably didn’t celebrate, did you? The good thing about celebrations is that it’s never too later to have one.
Take some time to think about all the times your skin came through for you, when it was glowing or making your life difficult and celebrate it. This should become a habit, make celebrating your skin something you do weekly if not daily. You have this skin for life, never take it for granted. Get that tattoo you were thinking of (if you’re under 18, with parental consent of course), try that new scrub, try that new make-up look you saw on TikTok, take 176319 selfies every day- celebrate your skin in any way you want.
Take care of yourself and take care of your skin and most importantly, never forget to celebrate.
