How to get rid of dry skin

Let’s be honest, dry skin is never a vibe. It makes your skin ashy and itchy and before you know it, you’re asking yourself how you let it get this bad.

Everyone has had their own experience with dry skin. Skin types are so different, some people are genetically prone to dry skin whereas others are blessed with only having to moisturize after a shower. There is not superior between the two, dry skin is dry skin and the methods to treat/take care of it are all the same.

Being a skincare company, it is our responsibility to make sure that we are doing our due diligence in spreading awareness about taking care of your skin.

Here are some ways you can treat/take care of dry skin, brought to you by the Mayo Clinic Medical Centre and Healthline.

  • Moisturize
  • As basic and obvious as it sounds, moisturizing is by far one of the best and easiest ways to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. “Moisturizers provide a seal over your skin to keep water from escaping. Apply moisturizer several times a day and after bathing.”

  • Avoid harsh, drying soaps
  • “It's best to use cleansing creams or gentle skin cleansers and bath or shower gels with added moisturizers. Choose mild soaps that have added oils and fats.”

Oil is actually one of the most moisturizing substances and is really helpful for dry skin and our rosehip and kombucha soap bar is packed with them. It has every good ingredient you could think of that your skin and body can benefit from. Kombucha is known for being great for gut health but has also been found to be very beneficial to our skin as well.

Ingredients: *Coconut oil Cocos nucifera, +Shea butter Butyrospermum parkii, Avocado oil, *Sunflower oil Helianthus annuus, *Castor oil Ricinus communis, *Rosehip Seed oil Rosa Canina Oil, *Rosehip & Hibiscus Kombucha (rosehips, hibiscus, tea, sugar), Lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, Orange Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Oil, Geranium Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, French Pink Clay Kaolin, Red Clay Red Illite Illite, *Rose Petal Powder Rosa Centifolia

  • Apply moisturizers immediately after bathing
  • “Gently pat your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains. Within a couple of minutes of bathing, apply moisturizing cream or ointment to trap moisture in your skin. A product in which petrolatum is one of the top three ingredients may be best. Products containing glycerin, lactic acid, or urea may also help.”

  • Exfoliation
  • “Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the outer layers of the skin. It can be beneficial for removing dry or dull skin, increasing blood circulation, and brightening and improving your skin’s appearance. There are different methods for exfoliation. Your skin type should determine which method you use and how often you exfoliate.”

Scrubs are a great way to exfoliate your skin and luck for you, we have lots to offer. We have body butters as well as scrubs; lavender and bergamot body butter, coconut and vanilla mocha scrub, shea and vanilla body butter and lavender body scrub. Each scrub has it’s own benefits, head to our website and pick which scrub is calling your name.

These are just some of the many ways you can take care of your dry skin. It’s officially summer time so it’s time to have that glowing skin summer and we hope that this list helps you get there. Take care of yourself and your skin because if you don’t, where will you live?
